Undergraduate Admissions Information

The Computer Engineering Degree is offered as an interdisciplinary program at the University of Virginia.  Combining the resources and faculty of the Departments of Computer Science and Electrical & Computer Engineering, the Program instills in students the knowledge, skills and attitudes that will allow them to meet new challenges, contribute effectively as team members, and be innovators in computer hardware, software, design, analysis and applications.  Students will leave the program with an excellent background in both Electrical Engineering and Computer Science.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics projects an employment increase of over 21% between 2000 and 2010 for occupations available to graduates with a bachelor’s degree in computer engineering.  More details can be obtained from the BLS website.

Students are encouraged to participate in the many research projects of the faculty in both departments and are actively mentored throughout their studies. All undergraduate admissions are handled by the University Admissions office.  Students applying to the University of Virginia (UVa) with a desire to major in Engineering must first apply to this office. Engineering students do not declare a major until the second year of the program. Please see the link below for information on how to apply to UVa.
