The primary objective of the undergraduate computer engineering program is to provide a solid education in the fundamentals of both computer science and electrical engineering so that graduates who satisfy the requirements of the computer engineering program are prepared either to enter into the practice of the profession or to continue advanced education in an appropriate graduate degree program. The program strives to help the students achieve excellent technical qualifications necessary to solve the engineering problems of tomorrow. The program attempts to facilitate the development of problem-solving, group, and communication skills and strives to instill in the students the effects that technology can have on humanity through the study of social and ethical issues. Finally, the program attempts to instill in the students an understanding of the need of, and the desire for continuous self-renewal throughout their careers.
The curriculum has been carefully designed to assure that students obtain an excellent background in both Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. All Computer Engineering students work through an extended sequence of introductory, intermediate and advanced courses in both areas.
